Flickerfest in Canberra!
Flickerfest, Australia’s touring short film festival, is coming to Dendy Canberra Centre next weekend (24/25 March). This is a great opportunity to see fantastic films from around the nation and the world at Saturday’s ‘Best of International Shorts’ and Sunday’s ‘Best of Australian Shorts’.
We’ve very excited to announce that we’re giving a way a double pass to each of these screenings to our members (check your university emails, guys!) in a raffle being drawn this Wednesday. Thank you to Flickerfest for donating the passes!

Movie Night – Drive
It’s time for another movie night!
This Thursday, 7PM at 9A01 we’ll be screening the fantastic Drive, starring Ryan Gosling! Come along, maybe even join us for a drink at Zierholz afterwards… and as always, free entry!

It’s time for a movie night again! Spike Lee’s Inside Man will be playing at 9A1 from 7:00pm tonight. Come along for a free night of entertainment on campus. Maybe even check out the new Bar on campus afterwards?
Fortnightly Movie Nights
This year, the UC Media Society is holding fortnightly movie nights, starting this very Wednesday!

Each year since it was founded in 2010, the society injects new blood into itself with new and enthusiastic members and 2012 is no different!
The 2012 Annual General Meeting
It’s a new year for the UC Media Society and we are shaking things up. Along side a restructure of our board, we are seeking to make 2012 more about activities, benefits and assistance to our member.
We cordially invite anyone and everyone along to our Annual General Meeting to sign up for a 2012 membership ($5.00), help elect the new leaders for the society, learn about what is in store and, most importantly, contribute your ideas to help make the society great this year.

Canberra Feature Film Coalition & local Zombie film!
UCU-MPS has contributed $250 to the crowd funding campaign for the local zombie film THEATRE OF THE DEAD.
Theatre of the Dead is the first film being produced under the banner of the Canberra Feature Film Coalition, a group of local film makers bent on taking over the universe. We hope to see alot more feature film’s coming out of Canberra in the future, and urge all of you to contribute to TotD’s funding campiagn, and get yourself a chance to be a Zombie Extra!
The CFFC also provides media students in the region with real world experience so we also urge you all to come to meetings and get involved! We produced a short video about the CFFC at their last meeting:
As part of the funding and media campign there will also be a movie Trivia Night hosted by the CFFC in on the 7th January 2012 (details) at the Canberra Club. Great prizes to be won, and you can get photographed with a zombie in the Theatre of the Dead zombie photo booth and meet the cast and crew of Theatre of the Dead.

STELLAR 5.0 – Media Arts Showcase 2011
We are happy to announce that STELLAR 5.0 will be held at the University of Canberra campus on Thursday 8th of December 2011! Come along to support your fellow students and catch the graduating short films, documentaries, multimedia works and animations from this year! Events start at 7:30pm.
Keeping things in-house this year, the screening will be held in Building 9, room 9A01. Our guest speaker this year will be Michael Honey, director of IceLab Design Studio.
There will also be food and drink provided and a chance to network with staff, students and members of the local industry!
STELLAR 5.0 will be part of the larger Faculty of Arts and Design Exhibition happening the same day in Building 7.

Film Trivia Night – updated!
The UCU Media Production Society invites you to join us for our Film Trivia Night, at the Lighthouse Pub. Doors open at 6:30 for a 7pm start. Tickets are $5 at the door, and each table will receive a jug of beer/wine, snacks and a chance to win the door prize! The will be a variety of rounds, including general trivia and film trivia. Everyone welcome!
